MODERN DANCE
Takes the foundations of ballet and jazz and combines them with elements of movement which may be more relaxed, off center and expressive. Dancers focus on the idea of being grounded and using the force of one's own body weight to facilitate and enhance movement. The choreography explores the aspects of time, space, musicality, and rhythm. Technique is also taught to increase the dancer's strength, flexibility, and coordination.

The study of Modern Dance enhances dancers' training by putting an innovative twist on the traditional technical building blocks established in ballet and jazz, and by allowing more opportunities for unique shapes, quality and style of movement, and improvisation.
