FAQ

 Music Class Offerings

 Piano & Violin
and other string instruments ages 5 1/2 and up. A child's attention
span and ability to read and retain
material starts to mature at age 6,
making it a good age to start piano or violin lessons.

Guitar
Ages eight and up. Guitar playing
requires a fair amount of pressure
on the fingertips from pressing on
the strings. This can be uncomfortable and difficult for hands smaller than those of an 8-year-old.

Flute, Clarinet & Saxophone Ages 8 and up. Due to the need for a fairly substantial lung capacity, we recommend that students begin at age 8 or older.

Voice
Ages ten and up. Due to the
physical requirements of private vocal training (proper breathing
techniques and development of
the vocal cords and lung capacity), the body is generally
not ready until about age 10.
